• National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school level students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1921.

Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in the activities of the NHS. NHS chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. Territories, and Canada. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments but also challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

    Requirements / Service

In order to be considered for membership in the National Honor Society, students must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Juniors must have completed 20 hours of community or school service. Seniors who are applying must have completed 30 hours of community or school service. These hours must be earned while enrolled as a student at Dublin Jerome High school. BOTH MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE THE DATE THE APPLICATION IS SUBMITTED.

If chosen and inducted into NHS, an additional 30 hours of service are required and must be completed by April 15 of the graduating year in order to be recognized at graduation. Preferably, the total of 30 service hours will include school and community service activities.

Peer collaboration, freshman mentor, and office worker count as 10 hours of service per semester. If you are applying in the fall, you cannot count those hours until the semester is over.

Opportunities for hours will be emailed to the members of NHS as we are made aware of them. Please check your email regularly.  If you need help with hours please see one of the NHS officers.
